Despite its technical merits, as much as any jacket in our inventory the Ariel Pro excels off the bike as well as it does on it.
This jacket's D3O shoulder and elbow armor are easily removed for civilian use, with a clean and easy style that works in a range of situations. But with the armor in place the Ariel Pro is quickly ready for the road.
This latest update to the Ariel jacket one of for the company's 100th year anniversary adds an AA abreasion rating, an extra snap for securing the collar, and (wisely) that's about it. There was nothing wrong with the style and cut of this jacket so Belstaff didn't' mess with success.
The Belstaff brand is best known for its , a fully belted, heavy-duty, iconic 3/4-cut coat. Theres also an in-between stylea short-cut quilted-shoulder waxed jacket with removable insulation.
But the Ariel does away with all the quilting, belts, and vents, and liners, and delivers a clean, stripped down jacket with an aesthetic that belies its technical bonafides.
As with the other motorcycle jackets in the Belstaff lineup, the Ariel comes with quality accouterments through and throughlike the corduroy on the collar, the lower snaps clad in rubber to protect paintwork, the checkered cotton liner. This thing is downright civilized.
Its also doubly waterproof, with a dry-wax shell thats doubly reinforcedfirst, with a waterproof membrane underneath; and secondly with abrasion resistant swaths of Cordura at critical abrasion zones.
The armor is plenty discreet and hides quite well, but it also goes in and out of the jacket quite easily should you want to wear the jacket out on the town.
Were not usually fans of heavy branding, but when youve been around for almost a century and have a logo as cool as Belstaffs phoenix, we make an exception. The Belstaff logo on the shoulder tops off the jacket with a touch of class.
